Good Times with Good Friends!

Tonight some sweet friends from college came over to hang out. We had so much fun! We talked, laughed, ate, watched the little ones play, and talked some more. Don't you just love friends that you can pick right back up where you left off, even if it's been a year since you last saw them? Well, that's the kind of friends these are and I love 'em! In honor of our little "reunion" I thought I'd post a picture of us from graduation day and a picture we took tonight! :)

College Graduation May 2007... 4 excited "teachers" ready to finally get their very own classrooms!

3 years later... 3 amazing teachers, 1 homemaker, 3 married, 1 engaged, 2 with little ones, and 1 with a baby on the way! :)

Whitney, Keri and Brittany thanks so much for your friendship! I will cherish it always! btw isn't it funny that we stood in the same position for both pictures! :)

4 months from 2!

I absolutely can't believe that Spicer Beth is 20 months old today! Man how time flies when you have a kid. She has been a bucket full of fun lately! This past month she took swimming lessons for the first time. She can officially go under water without choking! yay! We also went to Cove Lake near Mt. Magazine this past week. She loved it! Daddy surprised us and joined us about mid-way through our day! I love good surprises! :) Spicer loved walking all over the swimming area with Jared. She kept saying, "want my daddy." How sweet! She is such a daddy's girl! But who could blame her, he's awesome! She loved that she could walk around in the water, she also loved crawling around in it too! Daddy bought her a blue ring pop, her first, and of course she loooved it! :) The kid definitely likes sweets like her mommy.

We have been amazed at how much she can remember things. If we start talking about something we did, even if it was a few months ago, she joins in with her gibberish mix and lets us know she knows what we're talking about! Spicer really is saying so many words now, and some of her own too. When I tell her to do something, I usually say, "now," well she has picked up on that and repeats me each time with, "NOW!" It's hard not to laugh. While lying in bed yesterday morning she pointed to my elbow and said, "elbow." I just love everything about this little 20 month old!

Currently she has an ear infection, her second. We have been very fortunate in this department. I know some babies really struggle with this. She spiked a fever of 103 yesterday, the highest ever, so to pro-med we went. So glad we did. She's got two doses of antibiotic in her now and is doing so much better! Sometimes its hard for me to even know when she is sick because she continues to act fine. She is such a little trooper! Spicer definitely gets that from daddy. I'm such a baby when I'm sick! :)

Well, hope you've enjoyed my mini-seminar on my sweet 20 month old! Here are some pictures I've taken of her in the past week or so. :)

little drummer girl!

First, let me just say, Spicer Beth loves the show, "Fresh Beat Band!" I mean, loves it! I practically have to turn the t.v. off to get her to stop watching it! It has everything she loves, dancing, singing and instruments! It doesn't get much better than that for "miss beth" as we call her. :) So, the other night we were at my MIL's house and Spicer goes to her laundry room and gets out two big metal pots and brings them into the living room. Jared or his mom, I can't remember which, went and found her a couple of sticks. And let me tell you, she went to town! She even tried hitting them together to count before she played, like they do on "Fresh Beat." :)

The next day (yesterday) Aunt Lora gave her a drum with drumsticks. Such a sweet aunt! Spicer has played with that little drum all day today! She loves it! She now has a little keyboard and drum. I'd say, she's well on her way to being a "Fresh Beat" band member!

Oh, and did you notice, the drumsticks are her favorite color, Lime Green! :)

recently...

We've been playing outside enjoying this warm summertime weather that I miss so very much during the winter months! When we go outside Spicer loves to wear her "eyes" a.k.a. sunglasses. ha! :)

Look out lime green t-shirt, this red Wild Wilderness Safari shirt is gaining on you! Spicer pulled this one out of her dresser the other day and had to have it on. She then told me about our trip to the Wild Wilderness Safari (in her own gibberish of course). It has been about 3 months since we went, so I couldn't believe she remembered! She told me about the go-goes(goats) and giving them "nummy" a.k.a. food and about the "cock-cocks"(peacocks). Btw, the kid is scared of peacocks! She will not even touch a feather. Cracks us up!

Spicer loves the show, "Fresh Beat Band" on Nick Jr. When we were at a friend's house the other night she loved watching this little boy play the drums like they do on "Fresh Beat." I think he might just have his first little "fan!"

The other night we were over at Jared's mom's house for our weekly Wednesday night feast. When it was time to leave, Spicer got her shoes and began trying to put them on. She's been doing this for a few weeks now, this is just the first time I was able to snap a picture. So cute! She loves her "shess" as she calls them. She hasn't quite mastered the /oo/ sound yet!

Spicer has been taking swimming lessons for about a week now. She loves the water, when she is above it! Going under is not her forte. Today she kinda had a melt down when her teacher kept making her swim under water. She doesn't get choked or anything like that, she just doesn't like it. I'm hopeful that tomorrow she'll decide that it's ok! :)

Fun on the 4th!

We had a great holiday weekend. In years past our family has worked a firework tent in a neighboring town. It was lots of hard work but very fun. The year we found out I was pregnant with Spicer was the first year we chose not to sell fireworks. So, for the past three years we have stepped back from that and just enjoyed the holiday. I will say though that I think we are getting a hankering to sell fireworks once again. "Fowler Fireworks" may just be back in business next year! :) This year we celebrated the fourth with our church family. We all got together at a local ball park for food, softball, games, fellowship and of course FIREWORKS! It was a perfect evening!

Came unprepared for water games...

... and ended the night in only a diaper! :)

Forget About His Will for Your Life!

Forgotten God, Forgotten God, Forgotten God! I just can't get enough of this book by Francis Chan. I'm reading ch. 6 today. Can I just say, "WHAT? You've got to be kidding me!" You want me to "forget God's will for my life." After being taught this for my ENTIRE life! Chan opens ch. 6 with this quote by A.W. Tozer, "And to expose our hearts to truth and consistently refuse or neglect to obey the impulses it arouses is to stymie the motions of life within us and, if persisted in, to grieve the Holy Spirit into silence." WOW! Francis is convinced that we sometimes use God's will as a crutch. Amen, and Amen! I've definitely been guilty of this in my life. Not now of course, but you know way back in my past! ;) The chapter encourages the reader to follow the Holy Spirit NOW! Ask him what to do with your life in the next 10 minutes, instead of 10 years. Francis is not implying that God does not have a will or a plan for us, He does. Just don't get so caught up in knowing His will that you forget to live for Him right now and in so doing silence the Holy Spirit in your life.

Fried Squash Friday!

To me, nothing says summer like fried squash and fresh home grown tomatoes!

While I was cooking this up tonight, Spicer came into the kitchen and said, "mmmmm!" She must feel the same! :)
